Tina Søreide leaves position as Director General of the Norwegian Competition Authority

After three years as the Director General of the Norwegian Competition Authority, Tina Søreide is choosing to leave her position on January 31, 2025. She will take on a special advisor position in the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Fisheries for the remainder of the year.

– I am proud of all that has been achieved during the three years I have led the Norwegian Competition Authority, including measures to streamline investigations and the completion of large and complex cases. I will apply the knowledge from my time at the competition authority in my future endeavors in research and development, says Tina Søreide.

In her role as special advisor in the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, Søreide will research conditions for effective regulatory authorities and how these can strengthen their enforcement within the business sector. Parts of this research will take place at Yale University in the United States, and in collaboration with the Norwegian School of Economics.

After the period as special advisor, Søreide will return to her role as a professor at the Norwegian School of Economics.

Gjermund Nese will act as Director General from February 1.
