Unannounced inspection in a digital platform market

The Norwegian Competition Authority has carried out an unannounced inspection at companies operating within a digital platform market.

The purpose of the inspection is to confirm or refute suspicions of illegal cooperation.

– The fact that the Competition Agency has conducted an inspection does not imply that the companies have violated the Competition Act. The case will now be subject to further investigation, says Gjermund Nese, Director of the Department of Finance and Communications.

The inspection was conducted with prior authorization from the District Court. The NCA has seized relevant materials, which will be reviewed as part of the investigation.

The Norwegian Competition Authority cannot provide further information about the case at this stage. General inquiries can be directed to the Authority’s press contact.
