Unannounced inspection in the construction materials value chain

At the end of March, the Norwegian Competition Authority carried out an unannounced inspection at the premises of companies in the construction materials value chain.

The purpose of an unannounced inspection is to investigate a possible infringement involving anticompetitive behaviour.

– We have seized relevant material that we will review as we continue to investigate the case. An unannounced inspection does not necessarily mean that the companies have violated the Competition Act, says Marita Mæland Skjæveland, Director of the Department for Construction, Industry and Energy.

The inspection was conducted with prior authorization from the district court.

The Authority cannot provide further information about the case at this stage. General inquiries can be directed to the Authority’s press contact.
