The Commission has recently provided guidance that is specific to interim cooperation which is necessary to promote the production and availability of goods and services critical to addressing the corona situation. In particular, this concerns medication and medical devices used in the treatment of coronavirus patients.
The Commission also emphasizes that in this special situation, it is more important than ever that businesses and consumers are protected by competition law. The Commission will therefore actively monitor the competitive situation and is prepared to intervene against companies that exploit the crisis.
In the same way as the EFTA Surveillance Authority the Norwegian Competition Authority will look to the EU Commission’s guidance in situations where this is relevant.
