Magnus Gabrielsen took over as Director General of the Norwegian Competition Authority on 1 September 2015.
I look forward to leading an authority that has an active and important role in ensuring healthy competition for the benefit of Norwegian consumers, says acting Competition Director General Magnus Gabrielsen.
The Competition Authority has, during the last year, carried out a record number of dawn raids and handled a number of major merger cases, several of which have ended with intervention.

Background Gabrielsen has extensive experience in the Norwegian Competition Authority and has held various management positions in the authority over the last decade. Since 1 January 2012, Gabrielsen has been Director of the department of food, trade and health. He has worked in the authority since 1997.
Gabrielsen is a trained agronomist from the then Norwegian School of Agriculture and, in addition, he is a cand.oecon. from the Norwegian School of Economics.
Gabrielsen will have all powers as the acting Director General for Competition and will remain in the position until the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries names a new competition director.
